Delivered Skipped Away Vendor off Not recorded

Settings

Used to work out your monthly bill.

Days your vendor never delivers. These are not counted or billed.

More than one vendor, or more than one milk

Only if more than one person brings milk. The name at the top is your first vendor. Each kind below belongs to one of them, which is how two vendors can charge different prices for the same milk — and each is billed and owed separately.

Only if you buy more than one sort. Each carries its own price per litre — set it to what your vendor actually charges. Marking a day the ordinary way still uses the price above; long press or right click a day to say it was one of these.

Locking and protection

A closed month cannot be changed by a stray tap, on any phone sharing this book. You can always unlock one when you genuinely need to.

Closing months protects the ones that have ended, but the month on screen is the one a thumb actually brushes. While it is protected, tapping a day does nothing and today is marked with the button at the bottom — a long press there sets a different quantity.

Opening a month is for making a correction, not for leaving it open. When the time is up it protects or closes itself again, and the chip above the calendar hands it back the moment you are done.

Turns off every lock at once, for whoever keeps the book. Nothing is hidden and nothing is deleted — it only stops the book refusing you. A banner stays on screen while it is on, so it is never on by accident.

Backups and history

Your records live on your phones and nowhere else. A copy kept somewhere else is the one thing that survives a phone being lost, wiped or replaced.

Restoring adds a copy back in without removing anything already here. Saving the app as a file downloads the whole thing with your book inside it — open it any time, with no internet and nothing to install. That one is a snapshot: days recorded here afterwards will not be in it.

Tap a day on the calendar to cycle it. Use this for a different quantity, or to say which milk came.

Leave as your default unless it was different.

For a day when more than one vendor came, or two sorts arrived together.

Mark several days

For a holiday, a week you forgot to record, or a stretch that was all the same.

What changed

Every change made to this book, newest first, with the phone that made it.

Earlier versions

The book as it stood at the start of each of these days, kept on this phone. If something has been changed by mistake, you can put one of them back.

When does the new price start?

Install Milkbook

It gets its own icon and opens full screen, with no address bar. Your book stays on the phone and still works with no signal.

Sync across phones

Your data lives on this device and works offline. Sync keeps a copy so your family's phones agree.

Shown to the rest of the household when this phone asks to join, and against every change it makes. Two phones both called "Android phone" are impossible to tell apart.

Anyone with the code can read the book, so only share it with your household. Changing it needs a phone the household has let in. No account, no email, no tracking.

Sync is not a backup. It is where your phones meet to agree, and it can be emptied at any time — whichever phone syncs next fills it again. Your records live on the phones. To keep a copy anywhere else, save the app as a file in settings.
